Hi my name is Bernie , we being my husband Ron and son Mark, were in Bali in April and went to your restaurant 3 times for Dinner which we loved, we thought the food and service was just great and then getting a lift home to the Melasti in that beautiful yellow car was just great. The last time to Glory's was our first visit to Bali back in 1993, can't believe it took sooooooooo long to go back. Will be back in October so we will see you then for your “GREAT FOOD” and “SERVICE'.
Regards, Bernie 12 August 2006
To All at Glory
My wife, I and two good friends have just returned from a holiday in Bali. This was our 5th visit to this wonderful country. During our stay there we spent a great deal of time at the Glory bar, we have made many friends there over the years and always look forward to their terrific welcome. I regard Ketut, the manager, as a good personal friend, his manner and general attitude always make us feel at home. The staff go out of their way to accommodate all the customers, this attitude is highly commendable when you consider the difficult times they have all experienced. Please convey our most humble thanks to all of your staff at the Glory bar for making our visits truly feel like " Home from Home". Yours sincerely, Tony & Cheryl Hill 23/04/06
"To Putu and all the gang, We had a good flight home and no trouble with customs. "Dear Nyoman, It is with our greatest honour to have experienced our wedding celebrations at Glory. Your staff are amazing and made the entire experience one we will never ever forget. Every other guest felt the same way and the reputation of Glory will be spread throughout as many people as we know to promote your restuarant. We took many cards to hand out. We received the disc!!!!! Thank you all so very much! It's an amazing gift that we'll cherish forever. Someone did a great job on making it look so good. We didn't expect it to be customed to Hayden and I; it's just beautiful. We hope business isn't too bad? Bali has had it's fair share of heartache, hence the drop in tourism. It's such a shame and we know it will improve as it always does, however it must be very scary for business owners and the people whom work there! Give our well wishes to your staff please and let them know we can't wait to get back and see them all. We will be in touch and thanks again. Please say hi to all the staff, especially to Putu and Wayan"
Kindest regards,
Tara & Hayden, 08/06/05 Kiama Heights NSW Australia
"Hi, Is it possible to email me a copy of your menu? We will be visiting Bali again next month, and would love to try your restaurant after all the good things we've heard about it from the forums and other tourists."
Many thanks, Melanie Singapore 26/04/05
Hi to all at Glory's!!!! Here we are back in Perth after our magic Bali holiday over the Christmas season. Its really hard to get back into the daily routine of going to work every day after such a holiday!! But we need to go to work so that we can save up our money for the next holiday. A big hi to all the super friendly staff there....our Bintangs were always icy cold and served by cheeky staff which made our visits to Glory's full of fun and laughter. (The girls were the cheekiest!!) And the arm wrestling contests showed that "Mr Chris is the AUSSIE WINNER!!" You can be sure that the next time we are in Bali that we will be calling in for a few more fun sessions with all of your staff. Hope to see you soon!
Cheers,
big earsand no worries, no nurries!!! Chris and Leanne 17/02/05
Hallo to all at Glory, Once again, we had a terrific time at my birthday dinner on 17th September, 2004 at our favourite restaurant in Bali . I'm trying to persuade Dean that two years between visits is too long, so if I work at it really hard, maybe we'll see you next year. We were really pleased to see that you all came through the troubles still smiling, and hope that you continue to prosper. See you soon.

"To Nyoman Jiwatma and all at Glory, My wife Chris and I were at your restaurant with our Australian friends on several occasions during our holiday in August and we were delighted with every aspect of our visits, the food the staff and the general atmosphere were always excellent and on one occasion we were taken back to our hotel in the Glory bus which was a truly fun experience. Please be sure that we will return to see you and the many other Bali friends that we met on our visit, it really does make us so sad to think that all the friendly smiling faces that we would see every day as we walked around could now be out of work or out of business. I am sure that Australians and British alike will not be put off retuning to your beautiful and friendly island by the actions of a few fanatics, you can be sure that my wife and i and our Ausie friends will come back, we will see you then." Dear Nyoman, Thankyou for your letter, I received it last Thursday. Your best wishes are greatly appreciated, thankyou, and you and your family and friends have our very best in return, and we hope that 2003 will be a much better year for all of you. I am very upset to hear that the recovery we all want so desperately is not yet happening. Over here we don't hear much except that there is aid for the victims of the bomb, we hear very little about the indirect victims like yourself and other business owners.Have many businesses have had to close already? I hope that you don't mind, but i have sent the letter that you wrote to me with a letter of my own to our main daily newspaper. I think that as many people as possible should know what the situation is like over there, and that they have to get back to Bali as soon as they can, or the Bali and people we all know and love may not exist when we do get there! I work in a Post Office in the heart of the city of Adelaide and I speak to many people during the day, when terrorism, holidays or Bali comes up I waste no time in explaining to people that the bombers were definitely not from Bali , and that I have never, ever, felt unsafe in Bali and would not now. The awful truth is that we unsafe anywhere, even in our own streets and cities. But, you stop living can you? You could put off travel for years and then get blown up in your local supermarket. You have to live your life, you cant lock yourself away and live in fear, that is just what these madmen want. On a brighter note, the travel agents here have started advertising Bali packages again, thay haven't done this since the bombing. Hopefully people will see this as a sign that all is well over there and get them moving again. We will back on the 8th of June and will be bringing about 10 family members with us, some of them have'nt been before and are looking forward to the Glory buffet night we all rave about. I wish I could come sooner but work commitments make it impossible, I just hope you are all still there when I get back. Will you keep me up to date on your situation and the situation of Bali in general. Thank you for your best wishes, I hope to hear from you soon,
Yours in friendship, Sandra dela-roza ( Sandy to my friends) 28 January, 2003

Dear Sandy,
Thank you for your very sympathetic email and concerns for all of us here. We Balinese have received wonderful support from all over the world, but the Australian connection is very special. The generosity of donations for bomb victims and projects like hospital upgrades is overwhelming. But unfortunately these donations are of little help to the majority of the Balinese people. We need, right now, customers; we just want the opportunity to once again work, giving our customers, our friends, the service that makes their Balinese holiday. You have very astutely identified the problem; we are "the indirect victims", and our lives are being ruined. No, I don't think many businesses have closed. But, as I'm sure you know, most businesses are family owned and run; regular wages and conditions don't apply. Even big businesses like hotels are desperate; many staff are on part time, and have been warned to expect worse. Only today the "Bali Post" carried an article outlining the fear of employees, employers and government alike - mass sackings in the very near future. We are all just hanging on, not even taking enough money each day to buy necessities let alone make a profit. A taxi-driver friend of mine used to expect a few jobs a day and could make a profit; now he may only get one job each week! If you were to walk the streets you know you would be shocked; there's plenty of cars and people to be seen - but they are rows of parked taxis and bemos, and groups of sad staff sitting idle in empty shops and restaurants. Yes, hopefully, travel agent and airline promotions will bring people back; but while official government travel warnings are in place travel insurance is invalidated, and people will not dare to come. These bans are simply ridiculous and should be lifted immediately. And if war is made on Iraq then we think that all is lost; we cannot understand the Australian government's blind following of US policies. Thank you so much for your personal efforts to help us; in particular, thank you for sending my letter to your newspaper. I hope it was published as we need all the help we can get in letting people know the real situation in Bali . Please feel free to use this letter in any way that will help us. At the moment we have suspended your favourite, the Wednesday night buffet, at Glory; apart from the cost, it was too sad to see such waste when there are no customers to enjoy it. But let's hope that when you come in June we will still be in business and able to give you the full and happy service that is Bali 's fame. In closing I would like to tell you a little story. We had our Balinese cleansing ceremonies on the 15th November. My banjar (community group; I'm the leader) was at Pura Segara, the temple near the beach opposite Ramayana Hotel, for the Melabuh Gentuh (Purification of the World) ceremony, while many more including foreign participants were at the SC bomb site for the Caru Tawur Agung Karipu Baya (purification of the site and setting free trapped souls) ceremony. As my group was leaving the temple we met a strange sight; a small party of "traditionally" dressed (i.e. board shorts) Australians was carrying with great solemnity a large surf-ski. Curious, we asked them what they were doing; the group had just come from the other ceremony and were carrying the ashes of their friend in a special receptacle on the ski to disperse them in the sea. Naturally, without thinking, we placed canang (floral offerings) on the ski; tears fell from both sides; such are the special bonds between Aussies and Balinese.
Your Balinese connection,
Nyoman
